Images – Fort Victoria Brick Project

The names of over 2500 Fort Victoria pioneers are engraved in a double row of bricks that mark the boundaries of the original fort. The bricks trace the eastern edge on Government Street from Broughton to View, and the northern edge through Bastion Square. Although the outline of the fort’s northwest and southeast corners are visible most of the western and southern edges are now covered with buildings.

I’ve included photos of bricks commemorating the Orkney pioneers that appeared in my article.

More information, including a detailed list of all the pioneers, is available on the City of Victoria’s Fort Victoria Brick Project page.
